No Brasil, the event organized by Gilmar Mendes is nicknamed "Gilmar Palooza," in analogy to the famous Brazilian festival. If we were to adapt this analogy to Portugal, it would be something like "Rock in Gilmar" or "Gilmar Alive," referencing iconic musical events in Portuguese culture. However, these comparisons do not do justice to the true meaning of the gathering.

Brazilian journalistic semantics, filled with vibrant expressions, do not apply here. In Portugal, the more restrained and thoughtful language of the Portuguese does not allow for such analogies. The event promoted by Minister Gilmar Mendes is not a rodeo or a vanity fair. It is, in fact, a gathering of power in its purest form.

No democracy that neglects the health and vigor of its sources of power can survive. The International Forum on Law and Economics (FIBE) is not just a parade of notorious and noisy figures. It is an event that, above all, has substantial content and a clear purpose: to freely debate the paths to the future.

In one of the panels, someone accurately observed: "In Brasília, we have no time for anything; here, we have time for everything. There, we are in a hurry; here, we have time." This reflection captures the essence of the event held in Lisbon. The city provides an environment conducive to a calm and detailed analysis, away from immediate pressures.

The FIBE's convening power is remarkable. Ministers, senators, federal deputies, members of the Supreme Court, judges from higher courts, academics, and business leaders gathered to discuss crucial and emerging issues. This new generational moment highlights the importance of deep and meaningful dialogues between nations.
